Not only does waterborne underfloor heating give the
comfort of a warm floor, it also heats the entire room
in a pleasant way.
Pipes with hot water circulating through them are instal-
led under the floor in order to heat it. It is the heat emit-
ted from these pipes that heats the floor. The pipes are
installed in concrete or aluminium plates which allows the
heat to spread evenly across the entire floor.
Under the right circumstances, underfloor heating gives
effective energy consumption. However, it is the com-
fort that people enjoy the most. It is cosy and pleasant
to walk on warm floors. The reason why underfloor
heating feels so nice is that the heat is generated at a
low temperature spread over a large area.
Technically speaking, you can say that the heat released
through radiation, in comparison with the heat released
through air movement, is increased with underfloor heat-
ing. Heat radiation can (unlike air movements) transport
heat immediately to the surrounding areas and distribute
the heat more evenly in the room.
Most of the heat from normal radiators is released thro-
ugh air movements. The hot air rises to the ceiling where
it is not really needed, while the cold air flows just above
the floor.
People are most content with cold air in head height and
warmer air at the feet. For that reason, underfloor hea-
ting is an ideal heat distributor which creates a delightful
feeling in any home.
